Heroic upgrades
A Heroic upgrade is a one-shot power-up you apply to a single piece of gear — any armor piece or weapon, not tied to a set. It is the high-roller item: a small success chance, consumed whether it works or not, but a permanent boost when it lands.
On success a heroic upgrade:
- adds a percent damage bonus (for weapons),
- adds a percent damage reduction (for armor),
- adds a durability save chance (a chance to cancel item damage), and
- can optionally upgrade the material (e.g. diamond → netherite).
On failure the gear is unharmed — only the upgrade item is consumed.
How heroic damage stacks
Heroic damage is an ordinary additive contribution: a heroic weapon's percent damage joins the same additive outgoing bucket as any enchant, set, or crystal bonus, and a heroic armour piece's percent reduction joins the additive reduction bucket. It carries no separate multiplier stage — it sums with every other percent source and dilutes additively alongside them, just like a diamond-tier gear bonus. (Heroic armour also grants real diamond-equivalent armour points and durability through the vanilla stat system.)
:::tip Tune the risk
The success chance is drawn from a [success-min, success-max] range in the heroic item config
(defaults: 5–15%). Raise it for a more forgiving server, lower it for a true gamble.
